The researchers have found, in quantitative agreement between experiment,
simulation and theory, that ring polymers lead to the formation of much
stronger gels than linear polymer additives. This property can be traced
back to the topology of the additives, adding more stone in the mosaic of
exploration of the role that topology plays in influencing the properties
of soft materials.
