Editor's Suggestion in Physical Review Research

23.01.2024

The Editors of Physical Review Research have selected to highlight the recent publication by a joint effort of chemists and experimental physicists in Greece and Korea, and theorists in Vienna, to understand the formation of gels formed by addition of ring polymers in colloidal liquids.

The researchers have found, in quantitative agreement between experiment,
simulation and theory, that ring polymers lead to the formation of much
stronger gels than linear polymer additives. This property can be traced
back to the topology of the additives, adding more stone in the mosaic of
exploration of the role that topology plays in influencing the properties
of soft materials.
