On December 10, 2025, Sebastian Falkner was awarded the Award of Excellence by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research for his doctoral thesis “Monte Carlo Methods and Machine Learning for Rare Event Sampling.” This prestigious distinction, which carries a prize of €3000, is awarded annually to the 40 best doctoral theses completed across all disciplines at Austrian universities.
